In November 2009, ADSIC launched the Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure Geospatial Portal and Map Viewer. AD-SDI Portal provides a single point of access for geospatial information for the entire AD-SDI community & public. In 2010, the number of discrete data layers increased to 367, including most commonly needed fundamental geographic data in the Emirate. The portal hosts the metadata catalogue where users can find & manage standard information about available data, and significant number of applications & services for data discovery & utilization. Result is a significant step towards the long-term SDI goal of establishing a network of seamlessly interoperable agency nodes for geospatial data. AD-SDI Geo portal & spatial applications are utilized in a variety of government applications through mash-ups and spatial enablement of e-services, thus boosting productivity, enhancing customer service and socio-economic benefit to the society. |
Reason for nomination |
- While striving to become one of the top five governments in the world, Abu Dhabi has recognized the importance of Geospatial Information, Technology and Services (GITS) and "spatial thinking" as a key factor that will aid in achieving its 2030 vision. The Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure (AD-SDI) is a cross-government, multi-stakeholder programme administered by Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) to facilitate the sharing of geospatial data among government agencies and other stakeholders.
- The purpose of the AD-SDI program is to collect, share and utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) data and applications services across government and non-government sectors to:
- reduce redundant investment in commonly needed geospatial information
- increase interdisciplinary coordination across all sectors
- support better and more informed decision making based on more accurate and timely information
- The Program is intended to achieve the long term outcome of a "wider community transformation to create a Geo-Mature Abu Dhabi to empower the government, businesses and society with open access to spatial information and geospatial e-Services and to instil spatial thinking and innovation".

Description |
Hukoomi is the official government web portal of Qatar. It serves as a gateway to information about the State of Qatar. It connects users with government services, programs and initiatives. In line with Qatar’s ambition to be a global leader in eGovernment, Hukoomi was relaunched to include new information and services through an improved interface. The new Hukoomi aims to be accessible for all. Its three main categories are News & Events, Topics and Services.
The news section of the portal is updated daily, as Hukoomi strives to become the first place of reference for people looking to seek information about Qatar. Another important feature is the Topics section, which contains close to 100 articles about Qatari society, law, customs and other vital information. This is where people look to check for a listing of hospitals, schools; rules surrounding rental properties; or how business taxes are calculated. The service pages help members of the public access and perform government-related tasks online. Hukoomi offers a wide range of services, including driver’s license applications, job postings, utility bill payments, Health Card renewals and more.
Hukoomi is also available on the go: A simplified version of Hukoomi can be accessed through any mobile device’s web browser. Users may also pay bills and access government information and news this way.

Hukoomi is quite pleasing to look at and is easy to browse for top level urls. Hukoomi has made great strides towards taking various processes online. The website is a re-launch from a previous version which has been under performing. The new website – currently live is a significant boost to the e-services that Hukoomi offers. What makes the site standout is its usability especially with the clear instructions on how users can avail of the e-services. |

The portal includes all the information you need to know about setting up a company, from the initial concept through strategic positioning studies for the various sectors, business plan and the role of support structures. It also gives a thorough review of financing possibilities, well as tax and financial incentives for new businesses, formalities for announcing your undertaking, and the legal steps for setting up a company. Others services include overview information on the Tunisian industry and the Industry Promotion Agency (API), an Industrial Enterprises Virtual Exhibition, an online project declaration, as well as a database with 500 project ideas and information on the legal constitution of companies and enterprises incubators.
