H.E. Kamal bin Ahmed MohammedFor the second consecutive time, the Kingdom of Bahrain hosts the Arab eContent Award 2011, under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, as part of the Kingdom efforts in encouraging innovation of Arab eContent at a regional and an international levels between UN member states and the World Summit Award (WSA).

The Kingdom of Bahrain’s initiative to host the Arab eContent Award comes as a part of the World Summit Award (WSA), part of the United Nations reflecting Bahrain’s commitment and leading approach towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through the use of ICT as well as to enable Arab countries to compete internationally with its products and excel according to global standards.

The winning projects will honorably represent the Arabian region as it will be qualified to compete at the WSA and receive international recognitions. It will also be evaluated by a jury consisting of experts in the field of ICT, who will ensure- with all transparency- that the projects are up to standards according to international criteria in the eContent sector.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has collaborated with international organizations to improve the Arab eContent and to develop it accordingly to suit the United Nations standards. The knowledge based community is our long-term mission, closely coming to reality.

These sort of prestigious awards are the ideal means to encourage everyone to participate in the ICT community based and which will be an added value and an essential factor of development in different sectors, particularly in the social and economic aspects.

This year we proudly host the Arab eContent Award, in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and our mission is to support initiatives that play an important role in placing the Kingdom of Bahrain as a leader in the ICT and eContent fields.

I would like to congratulate the winners and the participants in appreciation for the efforts, wishing everyone the best of luck at the World Summit Award (WSA).
